and finds me no more

Burst forth!
into this world
through blood and through pain
to begin this journey,

And grow up,
learning about the sky
or feeling it rain for the first time
in order to undersand this life.

Asking questions,
where is the line
between forwards and backwards?
what is loneliness and what existence is mine?

Breathing, heart-beating,
hearing rumors of something more
of religion and fidelity
strange new pathways to explore.

There is no "me"
until the sky begins falling
then seeing is truly believing
when only death awaits the living

So, throw out all doubt!
taking leaps over mountains
explore and ignore
my soul will know all there is to know
once death comes but finds me no more.

Author notes

There is a thought that only death defines existence, but I would say that the avoidance of death is what makes us truly human and makes us truly self-aware.
We exist to fight, explore, cry, love, journey, and everything there is in life to do. Existence is doing and being- living.

    Interesting premise..
Avoiding death -- I suspect we wouldn't be where we are as a species were that not true.
I'd likely say existence is being

Wow this is a really great poem! I like how it starts how powerful and sticks to that same power all the way through.

You have a rare talent in your writing and I hope to see lots more of it!

This is amazing, I love the phrasing and wording. The imagery is beautiful as well, I can see what you are trying to convey very clearly. Wonderfully done.

Thank you for the comment. I almost took out the rhyme... what would you think of it if I did?
