Dragon Man

The wrinkles on his face grow deeper,
More leatherly and lizardy.
The skin of his arms rises into ridges
And humps, smaller than those of a camel,
Break into wings and emerge
With salamander texture.

It's been this way for years,
The story of his life,
A surprise to his parents
Who have been quite understanding.
"A genetic anomaly," said the pediatrician.
Who was also quite understanding.

His mother and father refused
When the doc suggested scientific testing.
But they supported the boy
When he studied the martial and athletic arts
And acquired foreign languages and customs.
He seemed to know he had a destiny
And now he fights for the right
And fights against evil, everywhere.

Not dark, just fantasy.

Thanks for reminding me it's there. Don't feel downtrodden -- I will get back to it. While I was reserving it, I thought I would fill in some other thing so I don't forget when I actually write the poem. Just so I don't get caught up in the excitement of the moment.

The dragon man will be unfolding his wings as soon as possible.
