never too low

Missing image

it’s about the little things
that give a bit of escape,
like a daffodil in bloom
beside a patch of
melting snow
& how we smile
despite ourselves

it’s about how
we’re never too low
to soar even when
wings are weak
from wild weather
& aged compasses
no longer work

it’s then,
at our lowest,
that small pleasures
& good hearts
hold us up...
lift out heads
so we can
b r e a t h e
