Not even a goodbye, No heartfelt sigh, No cry of "miss you, take care"
No hug at the doorway, No touch on the cheek,No "tell that swine to beware"
Still, I made my bed got to lie in it,
It's my duty to answer to my love.
let them remonstrate, I will demonstrate,
I have faith in the lord up above!
The beatings! hard to understand at first,
had I done something wrong? was he right?
Then the crying, the begging forgiveness,
A long time in the world with no light.
After a while a chance for salvation,
His mothers heart held out to touch mine,
within a beat the realisation,
"It's OK" she said "I'm sure you'll be fine".
At least I know the truth at last,
what hurts the most in this world thats a mess,
when you give of your heart and soul to someone,
and in return you find emptiness.
Not even a goodbye, No heartfelt sigh, No cry of "miss you, take care"
No hug at the doorway, No touch on the cheek,No "tell that swine to beware"
