Where ever You are now…
May You find happiness one day
I could not give this to You
I could not bring myself to stay…
For I was still a child…
Searching to be free
And You needed love
you asked it from me…
You gave me much strength…
And you tried to shelter me
I was a young bird with wings
And this You could not see…
We were many worlds apart…
Like the pauper to the king
I had a wandering spirit
That wanted to freely sing…
Fighting all of the externals
that threatened our ecstasy
The conflict was not without
But was coming from within me…
I tried to give You my love…
But deep inside I knew…
To my self I had to be honest
To us both I had to be true…
I needed to be myself…
I needed to learn to fly
had to let Your love go
had to let it pass me by…
Frightened and confused
I knew what had to be done
Fate relentlessly drove me on…
I knew not what was to come
I walked out into the world
Leaving our love behind
That my purpose in life
I would some day find
Maybe circumstances were
That our love could not be
For although it deeply hurt
I had to be free and find me
