Some folks may be totally blind,
but I see quite well, you will find.
I knew from the start,
he wasn't that smart,
I thought by now he'd have resigned!

I like this. I don't think the meter is bad. Of course, I'm a fan of free-verse myself. I don't find conforming to a strict meter or rhyme scheme very enticing... it's both too restrictive and stifling.
Good message here. My husband is like that - he knows if someone is good or bad from the very first moment he meets them. He can see straight through people.
I, on the other hand, am rather oblivious and naive. I trust everybody.

Your meter is bad ...
in line 5:
tand I thought by now he'd have resigned!
I'd have thought by now he'd resign.
would work fairly well.

I guess I was reading it too fast when I wrote it .. the syllable count is 8, 8, 5, 6, 9 .. I'll modify it a bit to be more uniform!
