it was only with distance,
did my eyes dry
…leaving traces of you
on my face
and as I laughed with crickets,
I watched stars rise
to an ashen moon
it was this moment,
I finally came to terms
within myself
and to different roads we traveled,
there were never any signs, to take
us home
for a few brief moments spent together,
‘you took my breath away’
and on one chilly October morn,
when amber hues and
autumn’s skies…
shook leaves from turning trees
I saw lowly,
the fragrant flower,
withered by early frost
and though…
we were never two lovers,
on the same road to destiny
I found…
after all my shattered dreams
I should find happiness,
long after this journey,
of you and I.

Nicely penned... great imagery... a connection amde with the reader and the poem through knowing that journey.

Yes, this is a familiar feeling to most of us who have loved. I guess the road to relationship is just very confusing for people and leads to both beauty and pain.
