Above All


Beyond all constraints
Breaking all barriers
adversity has ever been
my sole and solitary companion
and yet I hear you
see your sweet face
hear your voice
calling out to me
showing still
that love is there
and that it's true
that it is mine
as I am yours
and that alone
presses me
to persevere
I will go on
if thou wilt,
for thou art mine
and I, thine
and I have been promised
that we will be
and that we
shall be together
told by a higher authority
"Be patient. I will provide"
So I stay the course
no matter what the squalls
storms, barriers, and walls
Against all odds,
I carry on.
let hell bar the way...
I will take on all
and I will welcome all takers
For I have you...
Above all else.

Author notes

Inspired by two things:
1. Someone dear to me.

2. this picture right here, which brings a great smile to my face, and I do love the artist all the more for it since he was sweet enough to draw it for me. I can't wait to see it colored. Against All Odds

    Slightly distracting when you switch to "thine" and stuff, but otherwise this poem was full of beautiful promises, great write!

      My thanks. I am glad that you enjoyed the piece. There was a lot of love put into this particular piece, and if nothing else, I do try to express myself through pen and paper often. It's a wonderful way to show how one feels.
