Storm Furie

Storm Furie

The wind whips around my body, my skirts taking flight
The cawing of crows fade in the distance, flying away from here
They know well to avoid what is about to happen

The sky darkens above me and thunder crackled ominously
The meteorologist predicted sunny skies, but he couldn’t have predicted this
The cloud smash together and the temperature drops
The smell of ozone briefly scents the air

The first lightning bolt hits right in front of me, yet I am not afraid
The second doesn’t strike the ground, but the clouds, lighting up the sky
The first raindrop hits my forehead, and I raise my arms and head up as in offering

The deluge pours down on me and I welcome it
The rain penetrates my clothes, soaking the black tank top and skirts, yet I feel no cold
The rain suddenly stops, as if someone turned off the faucet
The lightning crackles more and more, thunder becoming a war drum

The clouds circle together and dip towards the earth
The dip reaches towards me and then I am lifted off my feet
The tornado has formed around me and I control it with my will
The ones who have wronged me shall be punished with the fury of this storm.

Fear Me!
The Storm Furie

    Superb

Aye, a very fine free verse write; I like it just as it is. I'm not a Wiccan, yet this write reminds me of what little I do know about it. Here's a link for anyone interested in Wicca:

  • the imagery, the rhythm, the flow, the word choice; all of it really set the scene. i could hear the thunder and feel the rain hitting my face. fantastic!

    Loved It!!!

Great imagery and the rhythm of it felt as if a storm was coming. One thing though the last time I checked you were a man so what is with the skirt? Did you turn Scottish? Cause they call it a kilt. Any way Loved it and i think i know someone who this fits, if you take away the skirt part. Keep it up.
