Now listen up, you prisoners all,
sittin’ in your cell,
come and do your lonesome time,
stuck tearsome in your living hell.
You'll wait long for your tucker now,
soldier this boring day,
you'll wait long while your time in jail,
shall sadly, slowly pass away.
You'll wait long for the jailer’s keys
to jingle all your fears,
‘cos I’ve got news you’ll hate to hear,
you've got an extra twenty years!
Ho! Ho! Ho!

Good for a laugh though I don't suppose the prisoners do much laughing!
I like that word "tucker", means food right?

Intriguing write ...
which reminds me of somebody writing to someone they dislike intensely about their life in a nursing home.
Just kidding. It's clever, and I laughed, and that's the main thing.

Hmph if only life sentences were life sentences eh?
This made me laugh,
great structure - impact, ''staccato'' vocabulary

I am laughing and thinking that an extra 20 years of listening to poetry would cause prisoners to ask for the electric chair.
Your poem is adorable and very funny!
