Shine, Lighthouse, Shine

When the spirit is lost,

and the soul screams out.

The agony of darkness,

stalks into our thoughts,

wretchedly.

Through the mists of anguish,

fear and doubt.

Boldly there stands a lighthouse,

in our midst,

stark.

The unknowing kindness,

shared one heart to another.

Boldly reveals patience,

and honor.

The lighthouse of forgiveness,

unconditionally casts out,

fear's power and might.

Enlightening our spirit's powerfully,

safely.

Shine, Lighthouse, Shine.

Shine bright for us,

this tender night,

for our hearts are weary,

and no hope is in sight.

Author notes

Contest prompt: the lighthouse pic.

I hear many bold lighthouse's upon this site,
beautifully lit,
upon each line and verse,
written by powerful hearts.

Thank you my lighthouses of beauty,
for I do not know how I would have come through,
basically all of 2007 safely,
without your kind words and bold inspirations!

this is an amazing piece that i dearly envy for this type of poetry is what i love to write and strive to be.

  • wow great write!

"The lighthouse of forgiveness," I took from this that this lighthouse that you speak of is really inside us all. They say that forgiveness is where you fall, and to be truly forgiven and lifted up you need to forgive yourself, and have faith in yourself.

And the last stanza.. wow!! loved it!
  • Inspiring

This poem is a perfect description of a lighthouse, and some angelic people who have the ability to light our way through a dark world. Beautifully written and well deserving of the gold. Congratulations.

Excellent Write. It's weird how a lighthouse is kinda compared to God everywhere. I love your last stanza the best here. Good luck with this.

Wow... very, very well done. I love it. Good form, good rhythm and flow, a great message that comes through clearly. I am impressed. My only question is "their" in line 3, stanza 2. Is it meant to be "there"? Being the king of typos myself, I don't pay them much mind at all.... just wanted to make sure I had it correct before judging. Thanks so much for entering this wonderful piece!

    The pic is great, too....
