She looked out the window
As she searched for his face in her mind.
He was gone and she knew it.
The rain never stopped pouring
Atop her broken soul
And each step she took
Grew more and more meaningless.
He was her everything
And she made the mistake
Of letting him know that.
His actions were childish
She still loved him so,
He could have walked off a cliff
And she still wouldn’t have left his side.
But his day came
When all things stopped making sense.
He left for good
As his wrecked car got towed.
He was a careful driver you see
But that one mistake changed his life
As well as hers.
Now she can’t close her eyes
Without seeing his panicked expression
And the sound that follows
Is heartbreaking.
The sobs are never-ending
In this newly lone world.
