it's all similar
it's all relative
all beating hearts and batting eyelids
darkened spaces and dramatic pauses
where our fear becomes our fantasy
and vice versa
versa vice
maybe some day we'll comprehend each other
not drink away our temptations
not beat away our love with a stick
maybe someday
maybe
someday
but not today
we're not ready yet
surrounded by a culture of "not yet"
until naiveté turns to laziness
and when the road ends
instead of opening the car door
and trekking onward
moving forward
we turn the heat up
unbuckle the seatbelt
and slump back down
into our leather seats
waiting for the construction crew
waiting for the pavement to
roll us forward
our eyelids closing impatiently
we sleep through the century
and wake to find highways
and freeways
and life going on without us
it's all relative

darkened spaces and dramatic pauses
where our fear becomes our fantasy
and vice versa
versa vice

Author notes
This is mainly about forgetting to live...getting so wrapped up in how-to-do things and trivialities that you just completely forget how to live. And also about overwhelming yourself so greatly that you don't know what to do. So you do nothing. You slump down in the car seat and you wait for someone else to fix your problems...and that's no way to live either.
tell me what you think. honestly.

I like the time paradox at the end, but I kind of have an obsession with time, so that'd be why. Very good, and "eye opening". I do agree with what you say about people getting wrapped up in doing something in a certain fashion that they don't even know why they do it anymore, they just do....
