Eddie

Missing image
A piece of me went missing and part of my soul would die;
A section of my heart was gone in the blink of an eye.
For gone was my happiness and gone was my son;
Many tears I cried that day and yet the tears still run.
But my God had a plan, He'd never let me be;
My son who went to heaven sent an angel back to me.
My best friend had a son, a little gift from above;
This tiny man now in my life, I couldn’t help but love.
Gods given me a second chance, a way for me to cope;
This little angel now in my life returned to me my hope.
And though I thought my chances gone, his master plan you see;
This little gift in human form, his dad I will be.

Author notes

This poem was written about and for my best friend and her son who have been huge in my life for the last year plus. Eddie was s second chance for me to be a father at least for a little while and it really put me back on track as far as wanting to get married and have kids. I love that little boy like he is my own son. The photo was taken by Sharon (his mom) at the Aquarium Of The Americas in New Orleans. This poem was written February 5th 2008.

    TOUCHING!! So heart warming. I am really sorry to learn of your loss and I know that nothing I say can ease the pain. You seem like a strong person and like you have accepted the loss. All the best in the future and I hope that you will find pleasure playing with the new baby!!!

    • you realy dont have a choice but to accept what happens in your life. You learn from what happened and move on striving not to make the same mistake in the future. And thank you for the comment as well as the well wishes.

  • well written and it is a blessing when we receive Gods plan of second chances when we feel we are lost unfound in worth to be given the gift in a master plan and guidance of renewed fatih and hope of a new chance and reason to shine in His name. georgeous wee babe with a pure and angelic spirit whom has your everlasting guidance to grow with. thank you for entering and many blessings always xxx

  • An angel indeed, and he just happens to favor you very much I don't know if you've noticed in the picture, the background appears to give him little wispy angel wings. This is a beautiful write, your rhythm and rhyme makes for an even more heartwarming, enjoyable read. Breathtakingly beautiful!...Eddie is blessed to have you in his life, and likewise

    Sincerely,
    Sassy

    • People seem to think me and him look alike but the similarities end with the hair style and color of our eyes. And no I hadn't noticed that before.
  • Also, such a gorgeous little baby Eddie!!
  • Absolutely beautiful, heartfelt, sincere & so very touching. Your words moved me, and I felt the deep emotion of losing a baby, it must have been tragic, I am so sorry for your loss.. But I am happy for God has given you a second chance to be a father...

    A really beautiful poem telling us a little more about your life. They say all things that happen, happen for a purpose, maybe this is one of those times because it means Eddie has you in his life and that's just what you both need.

    Thanks for sharing...Sue

    • Eddie has really changed the life of me and his mother for the better and is starting to change the life of his real father for the better as well. He has really been a godsent.
