There's a creek full of Lyons
in the flatlands of nowhere
and a raft on that current
that leads a man uphill
he's caught a strong daze
with a line he's been casting
there's a thought he's been chasing
one drowned with libations
there's a child that's been made
on his raft that's been flowing
and contrary to notions
held by most scholars
he managed to avoid the pull of the water
'tell a sinkhole emerged
one Explicitly earnest
that sank down the raft
of the drifter, the father
now he's struggling struggling
and I'm watching
heavy hearted
but what can I do
for my friend the father
who found a sinkhole
in the creek full of Lyons
whose fighting strong forces
in the flatlands of nowhere
where the water's always cold
and the current flows uphill
But there's hope for this man
and for those of his covenant
those drowning in water
you sisters, you lovers
life jackets are made
to fight these strong waters
so have faith in yourself
and I'll return you the favor
Author notes
Lyons creek is a small stream that, for a good deal of its course, flows west. Which on this side of the Rocky Mountains is typically uphill. The stream is an allegory to the alcoholism I have seen in a close friend of mind. Good luck to all of you fighting uphill.

Where the Lyons lye keep awake the senses.
Nice job. -
I read thru this. I enjoyed it, but was not sure I understood it. I read the name of the contest and went back and re-read it. You did a great job. Best wishes in the contest.
