When i look into your eyes,
I feel the joy only one other has brought.
When i look down at your smile,
I feel the joy only one other has brought.
When i see you play outside,
I feel the joy only one other has brought.
Now when i hear you cry alone,
I feel the pain only one other has brought.
When i see you fall and scrape your knee,
I feel the pain only one other has brought,
When you ask why mummy's to busy to play,
I feel the pain only one other had brought.
I no longer need that joy and pain,
That cloud is lifted from my eyes,
Mummy's coming out to play again,
That alcohol no longer gives me that rise.

very good
ironic
your work centers on alcohol / addiction as the culprit here
but
it could easily be someone's false pride / virtue
lustful ambition / onerous intentions / deceitful behavior that surpasses
