Silent cries escape your eyes
as you look upon my face,
held gently in my arms
such a gentle being.
Softly I stroke your hair
hoping to bring some sort of comfort.
Your chest rises and falls
as your breath tickles the small hairs on my arm.
Tears streaming down my face
Life is merely borrowed
With a soft cry, your body stiffens
and light seems to drain from your eyes,
eyes that not long ago
looked so happily upon this world.
And then you are gone,
taking a portion of my heart with you,
and the world seems somehow darker.
Do you know that I love you ?
