if you're thinking young, then you'll never grow old
and i don't know, but it's what they say
you're only happy, if you live for the day
and what i've heard, through the grapevine
is you can't be happy, til you open your mind
and i don't know, but it's what i hear
you cant be happy, if you're full of fear
now, this is just the word on the street
but if you love yourself, your life will be sweet
and this may just be, the common vibe
but if you know yourself, you will feel alive
now rumor has it, if you look inside
and peer behind, that big wall of pride
then you just might, see the real you
but that's just rumor, could it be true?
there's an urban legend, on the streets
that the happiness, is based on needs
but there's nothing further, from the truth
think of happiness, remember youth
there is a myth, that to be whole
you need another, to love your soul
but the facts, should they be true
all you need to love, is you!

lol oh this one ..what to sya about it?... we need more love of one another not just ourselves... but it just wouldnt fit in the rhyme scheme

You are the most diverse writer I know, and like a wise old owl, you just completely intrigue me.
This reminds me of a book my son had about red pepper stew, it was a skipping rhyme, this is such a nifty rhythm, I have a sudden urge to find a rope and skip,
I totally love it, and I love the message too, infact I actually really needed to hear it today.

This is a sweet poem. The rhyme and the overall tone are very pleasant and natural. Your conclusion effectively expressed your opinion on the topic of happiness...although I disagree with this popular idea. Thanks for sharing this light-heared poem.
