Consolation

When your feeling sad and low and fate deals you a worthless hand
And life strikes you that fateful blow for reasons you don’t understand
When your spirits reach their lowest ebb and you’re trapped inside life’s cruel web
And success avoids you like the plague and friends on promises renege
When all is lost you’re feeling so forlorn you feel you cannot face another dawn
When you start to pull you’re hair out with despair you try to sit down but someone’s moved the chair
And when at last in desperation you try to ring a friend or a relation
To tell them that you’ve had enough and that you’re feeling mighty rough
Who tells you that in the end there's always the river my friend.

  • That's very cleverly written and worthy of a good chuckle.
I wish you well in the contest.

    Happy trails.

This is a great poem for the contest. I enjoyed the sadness throughout the poem, and the end line which separates it from the rest. Well done.
