When john decided on an evening class little did he know,
the move would start a train of events that would change his status quo. His eyes soon beheld a quite pretty girl at the opposite side of the room,
From the odd polite word to the mutual smiles love was starting to
bloom.
As he walked Kate home through the dark moonlit park they paused a while to kiss,
as they embraced he looked into her eyes the feeling was absolute bliss.
They felt the heat of their heart’s mutual beat the chemistry was almost complete.
One day walking arm in arm through the heart of the bluebell wood,
John cupped Katie’s face in his hands as only a lover would.
He gazed longingly into the eyes of his one and only soulmate,
and said” darling I really love you, will you marry me Kate.”
Kate’s reply was no surprise as she hugged him and whispered her assent.
They had so many plans to make as off arm in arm they went,
Some time went by as their married life was on an even keel.
When Kate said casually when half way through a meal,
I’d love to have a baby John a boy or a girl will do.
John smiled and looked across at Kate and said” as long as it looks like you,
but months went by and then a year with nothing on the way.
They decided both would have a test to find out what caused the delay,
and when the results came through at last Kate could hardly wait.
She opened up the letter that would decide their fate, and as she read line after line she realized her fears,
she passed the letter on to John and then burst into tears,
Kate had a blocked fallopian tube so unlucky to believe.
the chances were negligable that she ever would conceive,
but John looking on the bright side as he held her tight
Said “we’ll go in for adoption everything will be all right.”
They filled all the relevant forms in then came the anxious wait.
Kate’s maternal instincts were really on top rate,
months went by then one fine day Kate met john at the gate.
Her face all wreathed in happy smiles she whispered “I’m late”
The pregnancy test confirmed their joy, Kate still wanted a little boy.
But John with foresight said “It happened once it can happen twice,
we’ll have one of each that would be nice.”
And so ends the Saga of John and Kate you see it all happens to those who wait.

the structure of this poem made it feel more like a short story to me, aside from that, I think that you did a really nice job here, very descriptive and the story moves along nicely. thanks for entering

A great peom with beautiful rhymes. Thank you so much for entering my contest and best of luck to you!

Nice rhyme and very sweet story. I like it enough to move it forward to the finalists at least for the time being. I always prefer poetry that has some kind of line division though so it doesn't appear to be free verse. Line division gives power, looks clean and neat and also makes the rhyme easy to find.

Another uplifting and very sweet story. It holds every trace of a very talented writer. However, it is very similar to another of your pieces already in the finalists list, so I will just have to applaud this one. Amazingly well done, in any case. Bravo!
Best of luck and thanks for entering!
