He measured mediocrity with portraits,
using body parts to make an image
and compared it to me.
It's when dreams are ascending
like platinium balloons that burst
with pressure from air,
that you'd realize what it's about;-
a sudden force of wind
to overthrow your balance
of organised chaos.
Detachment grew exponentially,
creating distance between sheets
and bedside tables,
spilling candle-wax on toe-nails
that refused to react.
Covers were never meant
for ten minute honeymoons
and fleeting theft of emotions,
but for my love
and his.
