The female of some species

She flies within his heart and soul
And gives his spirit perfect form
Yet he will never give his whole
To keep her warm

He takes her passion for his own
Too little love he has to give
And with the seed that he has sown
She cannot live

When he is firm within her mind
Their bodies one and flown away
She makes a blow for womankind
And ends the play

She carries him to find a reed
Takes back all she had to give
She eats her man to fill her need
For young to live!

of course as a man this made me squemish, so "mission accomplished" were we all not so withholding and mad at each other. this rings of truth and reflects the gender dance. Just a note sometimes women "never give ... their... whole.

    lovely and scary.

This is an explosive sentiment in verse!
Powerful conveyance of karma's circles at
work in life and love. I love the direct
    reference to the dragonfly's carnivorous
    abilities. Thank-you for this. Blue

In a straight forward fashion, you have shown yet another of the feminine traits... Nurturers with a strong maternal instinct and the will to survive... We [women] would do well to learn something from the dragonfly... While we don't have to eat them [men] we certainly aren't stuck with the bad ones for life... unless we choose it!!!

If my mate would eat me, it wouldn't be much fun
chew into little pieces, and swallow one by one.
when she had her fill, a taste of yesteryear
I'd be processed meat, a memory for my dear...

What a cold-blooded chick the dragon fly is; I think spiders do something like this too. Glad we humans don't eat our mates...this both informative & funny...novy

Well done representation of this carnivorous creature. "When he is firm within her mind
Their bodies one and flown away
She makes a blow for womankind
And ends the play"..my favorite part.
    Good luck in the contest.
