fall silent

Sometimes I fall silent,
and take a look around me,
soon things I've seen a thousand times,
suddenly astound me,
wrinkles on the faces of friends,
who choose to be in my company,
I see them get older through many trends,
and feel lucky that they love me,
jetstreams that show men to be gods,
are scars across the sky,
I realise now that we're all at odds,
with a world that passes us by.

    this is beautiful. So profound. i love the way it sums up our journey through life and reminds us to see what is here for us now. This really spoke to me.
