we are but a fleur-de-lis

we are but a fleur-de-lis
caught in the sands of time.
baffled and bewilderd
fighting to get out

suffocating and strangled
it's tortured wings are broken
alot like us
the children of our time

were clinging to dear life
as if never to let go
we fight for love and treason
then cry when it fights back

    "alot like us" - "alot" would be "a lot".

    "were clinging to dear life" - "were" would be "we're" as in "we are clinging to dear life".

    The last line signifies a lot with many aspects of life.

    A nice poem that you have written here.

    amen to that twin. it's not fair that we try so hard, and still get knocked back down.one day though....one day "the children of our time" will prevail!!! lol

    We are indeed. I love this. It is so dark. We are clinging to what little is left of life. We are suffocating and tortured. We are but a fleur de lis on a coat of arms.

    A very deep piece of writing here and I also like the comparing of us humans to the fleur de lis. You have done well here. This piece is very well-written with the darkness underlying beneath the words.

      indeed we are

      i'm going to tell you a little bit more about my past.
      i've been trying to commit suicide since i was 12. when i was 15 i ended up in a coma for 8 days. after that, i tried and tried again. i got submitted to a psychiatric hospital where they tried and tested all kinds if anti-depressions and anti-psychotics on me. now i'm on them for the rest of my life. sometimes i fall back on that again but i don't try it that much anymore. i know i'm young but it just wasn't worthwhile for me. well, now you know. mwa!!! that's why i hang on to little bit of life i have left.
