Old Shoes

these worn out shoes
tread upon many paths

in all manner of weather
taking me anywhere,

everywhere
leaving me and the path

Used to Geo Cache frequently. Certainly requires comfortable shoes as most caches require walking off path through rough terrain and brush. Can certainly understand your affinity for and attachment to that certain pair or pairs of comfy shoes. Nicely done, Kimberly ..oh and though you've no doubt been here a while...welcome to Texas.

    Worn out shoes

The old worn out shoes are the ones that get selected for the really important trips, like the walk in a rain soaked day to figure out the meaning of life. One pair of worn sneakers comes to mind from this poem. I worked all summer one year to hand mix concrete for a foundation on a home that had no electric power. I spent the entire summer mixing concrete. When the job was complete, we cast that pair of worn sneakers into the last batch of concrete. They are still there today, sticking out of the foundation down in the basement. Those worm shoes got good use.

What a lovely poem, Kimberly. I like the border and your take on the prompt. Those worn our shoes are better kept in the back of the closet, rather than thrown out. Nice job.

I have to admit that I have a few that I drag out, most are summer shoes and one pair is even an old pair of standby hiker boots that I have put sooo many miles on and they still feel as good as day one. I refuse to part with any of them. They even moved here to Texas with me.

    Comfort is the mid-ground
    that lies between the two
    Peacefulness the substance
of all the things that's true

    Action is the message
but feet in turn must groove
    For advancement sought on path
in all the things we do

    Hugs...Eddy

OOh I like this! You have once again managed to say so much with just a few words and as always, you speak volumes of wisdom. Your talent is one that I enjoy stumbling upon when time permits. Good luck in your contest!

There's a lot to be said for the comfort of things tried and true as well as traveling with that which one considers to be faithful and loyal. I see both ideas presented here, or perhaps I am reading too much in between the lines.

There's nothing quite like feeling comfortable in your own shoes and your own skin. I like this. It says a lot. Good luck in the contest!
