I've been traveling for miles on this road
(Called existence...)
I’ve had many mishaps on the way, yet I remain insistent
Why must the struggle continue to wear and tear?
Every December 31st, I pray for a better year
Still things don't change; they remain the same
So damn tired of playing this revolving 'life game'
But yet, I extinguish the words ringing in my ear
I reinforce my posture...and speak up loud and clear
"I don't do quit”, so I take another hit—I persevere
Many came before me, I only heard (I didn't see)
I wonder, “What was their secret?”
Could they share it with me?
‘Common sense’ for me, rules the day
There's always something to learn from what people say
I know the rhetoric goes something like this
Listen closely and please add it to your list:
It's been said all good things come in time,
So if that's the truth , WHEN THE HELL IS MINE?
I'm getting restless from waiting all this time
Though regardless of what I say or do
I'll keep it moving, and see it through
Because only one rule matters to which, do I adhere...
The trials and tribulations of life I lay bare,
"I don't do quit"—I persevere
I shudder to think, “Who’s in there?”
And stuttered, I don’t utter another word…
My soul turns pale
Have I lost my nerve?
Pitter-pattering, my ears are perturbed
Beyond the speed of sound, this human’s ears frown
I’m pitted against a rock in a desolate place
On a globe filled with water and so much space
Mishaps of yesterday bounce in front of my face
God…My God, give me grace!
Slowly, serenity trickles upon my bed
Waves of certainty wash over my head
I’m standing upright—firmly realizing that I’m being fed
My lids fill with gratitude
Then tears cascade like lead…

"I don't do quit." I love those in this piece! They stood out to me for some reason. It jumps out and and sticks, demands attention for the rest of the piece if you will..
"Every December 31st, I pray for a better year" I cannot tell you how much impact this line will have on a lot of people, we all understand resolutions, and we also understand advancement. Each new year, is another year to be blessed with.. We should just be happy when we make it there.

Haha! So many people and so little time and money to go around. We should learn to feel good about our lives, no matter how depressing we feel it is. And we should learn not to feel guilty because of having any certain advantage over people..
