was it merely the blink of an eye
or a moment lost in time
where only the devil dwells
reaping another unwary traveler
cutting away the protective cloak
which guards against his grasp
I know I was there a moment ago
in the welcoming arms of compassion
now all is forsaken
lost in the blink of an eye
as the demon lay hidden
…waiting
dee garner
