Times when I felt down and alone
there was one love I'd always known,
dad's smile would always comfort me
and suddenly the world felt free.
He worked so hard, the hours long
and yet I felt his love so strong,
precious moments spent together
will remain within my heart forever.
After thirty years I still see his face
his features I can almost trace,
his scent has lingered throughout time
his strength through hard times help me climb.
Many problems sent and tried
he taught me to take them in my stride,
work through each without despair
and answers will always be there.
Respect I think was his middle name
and onto me he's passed that flame,
I learned so very much from him
make the most of life and don't be grim.
