Got talking then got thinking….

Got talking then got thinking….

Today a friend and I got talking
bout this thing hanging over our heads.
You could even say a while it has been stalking.

Why are we so unfit?
Family fall sick and it’s a reality check
still in denial, just how unfit and not willing to admit.

Like many on this earth, I have no excuse
saying I’m unmotivated then surprise I actually am.
Back of mind better health, I know I have to choose.

Organic garden thriving from fresh rain
their lives continue as many go to flower
smart idea it was, finally using my brain.

Please do not yell when I tell fresh isn’t eaten everyday.
It’s bloody hard you see, man at work and cooking just for me,
yet, yes, my health and well-being in the end always pays.

Slowly my body is failing me and the truth sets in
moving just a little bit brings comfort
reason flowing through, I get up, start walking and grin.

I will take it day by day push myself when needed
eat healthy and exercise, do anything I can.
If body shows warnings, they’ll be nothing more then heeded.

Yes, healthy body, healthy mind and I too was once in this quandary, until I became sick and tired of being sick and tired! Now, I actually crave exercise and good food. If you can think it, you can do it! My prayers are with you my sweet, and best of luck in the contest.

    Love and peace always,
    mj.

    Well, you inspired me sweetheart.

I know the battles you have and hope this can be a turning point for you. Reading your words was like having a conversation with you, they flowed naturally as if you were standing in front of me telling of your plans.

Best of luck in the contest, honey.

    Love always
    Mum

Thanks for this one. I like the reflective nature in it, like a thoughtful analysis of the self. Very often, great things can come from such an internal pursuit. I enjoyed reading it quite a bit. I am quickly learning now that the toughest challenge in holding my first contest may very well be judging so many great poems! (I am hopeful more are coming)
