The beauty of your lyrics...I can't hear
An illness far too strange to overcome.
I cannot even stand to read Shakespeare.
I've got that Metrophobia.
A roaring in my ears that sounds like pain,
when listening to a couplet or quatrain.
The length and theme they matter not at all,
when paralyzing fear holds me in thrall.
I shudder at rhyme and rhythm,
convulse when I hear verse,
and if the piece is pages long
my heart will surely burst.
Even so I will still try
to cure myself of this.
Hope one day to sit and cry
at tales of woe and bliss.
“To conquer fear is the beginning of wisdom.”
-Bertrand Russell

I really liked this one. Very funny and I definitely know what you mean.

hehe... in that case you must be absolutely petrified when writing this poem, eh? I enjoyed this, it's both funny but to some a real and quite frightening experience!

Delightful! Fear not! Rhyme and meter are only the music and rhythm of the written word. Many are their slaves and but a few their masters.
In your case talent will overcome all obstacles.
Good luck in the contest.
