TV Heroes (You Can Live On The Street)

Well, we all have TV heroes, they are the ones we sit down for
Each week at our special time we turn off the phone and lock the door
It doesn’t matter what our age, there’s always one for whom we have a thing
But what happens when we find the actor's been moonlighting

You CAN’T be the villain, can’t you see?
How on earth can you do this to me?
I know as an actor you have to eat
But for all I care you can live on the street

You’re casually flicking channels when you have nothing to do one night
And you see your man of steel killing someone in a fight
But, he’s the man who can fix ANYTHING!  the PI with the cute mustache
The Captain with the long eared dog and the major with the real cute.....hairstyle

You CAN’T be the villain, can’t you see?
How on earth can you do this to me?
I know as an actor you have to eat
But for all I care you can live on the street

He’s looking really scary, not my heartthrob any more
And I sob into my Kleenex, at the injustice of it all
You might think that it’s funny, and wonder ‘what’s the deal?’
But honestly don’t you realize, that I thought he was REAL!

You CAN’T be the villain, can’t you see?
How on earth can you do this to me?
I know as an actor you have to eat
But for all I care you can live on the street

And now the time is getting late and I trundle off to bed
But no visions of my hero bounce around inside my head
My daydreams have been shattered and he may as well be dead
‘Cause when I turned on the tube, HE PUMPED SOMEONE FULL OF LEAD!

You CAN’T be the villain, can’t you see?
How on earth can you do this to me?
I know as an actor you have to eat
But for all I care you can live on the street

That's hilarious. It's true - we always want actors who do one role well to do that role over and over again, or at least characters that are like it. It would be like seeing Gene Wilder go from playing Willy Wonka to a rapist/junkie. I just couldn't take that. lol

One thing - the rhyme scheme broke on these two lines, I think -
He’s looking really scary, he's not my heartthrob any more
And I sob into my Kleenex, at the injustice of it all

Thanks for starting my Monday morning with a laugh. I'm sure you-know-would appreciate you saying he has a cute, uh, hairstyle. lol

It's a cool song lyric. I think it's weird too when your hero starts to play the villain.
The rhyming is cool and this ballad (I think) is recognizable to anyone.
    Well done and good luck!
