TV Heroes (You Can Live On The Street)

Well, we all have TV heroes, they are the ones we sit down for
Each week at our special time we turn off the phone and lock the door
It doesn’t matter what our age, there’s always one for whom we have a thing
But what happens when we find the actor's been moonlighting

You CAN’T be the villain, can’t you see?
How on earth can you do this to me?
I know as an actor you have to eat
But for all I care you can live on the street

You’re casually flicking channels when you have nothing to do one night
And you see your man of steel killing someone in a fight
But, he’s the man who can fix ANYTHING!  the PI with the cute mustache

He’s looking really scary, not my heartthrob any more
And I sob into my Kleenex, at the injustice of it all
You might think that it’s funny, and wonder ‘what’s the deal?’
But honestly don’t you realize, that I thought he was REAL!

And now the time is getting late and I trundle off to bed
But no visions of my hero bounce around inside my head
My daydreams have been shattered and he may as well be dead
‘Cause when I turned on the tube, HE PUMPED SOMEONE FULL OF LEAD!
