Brown eyes as warm & sweet
As hot liquid caramel
Fur so soft and fuffly
Unforgivably stained so many times
By my wet kisses
Crafty at times when
He sees me snacking
Because when I'm not looking
He'll quickly grab a bite
Looking away when I'd
Eye him suspiciously
All the times he's been nudging me
With that constanly wet nose of his
Gets me into a laughing fit
Finally being myself completely
Tail so eagerly waiting to wag
Tongue so easily popping out of his mouth
When food is around
Head so adorably tilted to one side
When he sees something new
Drowned in sadness, I hug him in silence
Tears wetting his perfect fur
& he'll keep completely still
As if reading my weary thoughts
& we'll both fall asleep
In each others company
Drifting off to a land of freedom
& doggie treats
