Have you ever felt
Your whole brain just shut down?
From a lost too great
To express in words?
Like you'd never feel anything again..
You're heart's beating so painfully,
But you're used to the numbness.
You can easily lose yourself
If you don't hold onto anything.
Love slips between your trembling fingers..
You can't even wave goodbye
To someone desperately waiting for you to.
But warm hands reach out
From all around you.
Friends give you the help
You've been crying helplessly out for.
& suddenly you feel at peace,
Like your soul's been released.
& that heavy burden on your shoulders
Just seems to be lifted off.
That feeling like you can finally
Do what you want to.
Set things straight in your life for once,
Because it's all so clear.
Because all of us know
That some who wander are
Free.

i understand what you are expressing in your poem because i have felt this all before.. i like your idea of freedom. good write!
-
wow this one is good. Especially the ending of the poem because there was this old quote that stuck in my mind when i read: Because all of us know that some who wander are free.
It reminded me of an old saying that i just remembered but i havent heard it for like years.

This is such a beautiful piece, I read it just a minute ago when I was viewing Char's new poems, and I just had to come and comment on it here...
It is so great, and it's great to have that feeling, the warmness after something terrible has happened...
It's just such a wonderful piece, I absolutely love this...
You've described the pain perfectly...
It's just great...
Awesome job with this one, it's perfection.

This is really beautiful and totally well done. I enjoyed this piece a lot. I can relate to this very well to say the least.

That's the most beautiful thing, being in such turmoil and pain and then finding something totally beautiful to set your heart on fire and put you at peace.
-
Wonderful wording that's so easy to relate to - I've been, and am going through, those numb times.
(I think in line 3, you want the word "loss" instead of lost).
Thank you for this lovely entry
best wishes
