You're only fooling yourself
When you can't ask for help
Or speak the truth inside
To protect the tears you hide.
When you can barely breathe
When remembering the bruises
And the scratches that scream
With pain, pale skin ruined.
It's another thing when you
Can't sleep at night;
When you don't know what to do
To erase hindsight.
You bottle emotions away
In hopes to somehow be okay,
To keep a smile plastered on,
To imagine the pain is gone.
Attempts build up, and scars
Begin to show: Lies can only
Last so long before alarm
Is raised for everyone to see.
