National pride makes you feel warm inside
My country right or wrong
May sound good in a song
But what did the stars and stripes
And our own union jack
Mean to thousands slaughtered
In the shock-awe attack
And to hundreds still dying
Every week in Iraq
The concept I think you'll agree
is exporting graveyard democracy
Then some of us do find it strange
That in the hospitals and mortuaries
Lie the fruits of regime change

An excellent write that really affected me, especially "graveyard democracy" and the last two lines with the fruits of regime change.
Twas ever thus but maybe worse now because of more sophisticated weaponry. These are the most extreme battles and I thank you for coming up with a submission that makes that point. -
oh, please reread my rules and fix a little problem you have so I dont have to boot yer poem.
thanks,
God Bless,

"We the People" is dead, as your poem states
"The concept I think you'll agree
is exporting graveyard democracy
Then some of us do find it strange
That in the hospitals and mortuaries
Lie the fruits of regime change".
Great Job of expressing yer view of America's dying patriotism.
God Bless,

yes! herein lies the seed of revolution
I found the words "exporting graveyard democracy" especially poignant -
*wiggles toes* Pretty good "Graveyard democracy" powerful indeed, you forgot an 'l' in you'll

-
"My country, right or wrong/May sound good in a song". So true! "Right" should be far more important to us than "country".
Your poem expresses a reality. What a shame that such a great nation as ours has become an exporter of "graveyard democracy".

-
"Graveyard democracy." Powerful, and eye-opening. You are a strong voice, and you will be heard. Well done.
Best of luck and thanks for entering! -
So what is going on in Iraq is reason to forget the good this country has been or the lives that were given to make it a free country, I guess we can no longer love our country because we can no longer control what our leaders are doing with it, thats pretty sad. Thanks for your entry and good luck in the contest.

The ears that should hear,
the eyes that do not shed a tear
seem isolated by choice from
the damage they have wrought.
Bravo for speaking up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
