Lives in an Edward Hopper,
a boarded up mansion where the
Eastern boys don't come, and the
Western men paint the tables
with leftover grapes.
And no one knows how long it takes
a fruit to turn to dust; and who inhales
the dust that slowly coats the brain; which functions
for a time and then sputters like everything else
that we have ever made.
Homely don't do rain dances because you need
more than rain to fix a species of mess.
