Do you know how difficult it is to be so deep in trouble, that you know not how to repair the damage that's been done?
Difficult enough to willingly prolong your troubles, that's for sure. Prolong them, because ending them would mean consequences. And consequences, require dealing with.

So I do what I do best and continue to dance.

I enjoy it too, and take breaks but can never stop. Doing that would mean it's bedtime, the signalling of a new day. And I can't handle a new day.

So I do what I do best and continue to dance.

I long for a new day though. The day after tomorrow seems good, it would fit my imaginary schedule just right. But I don't think I need to tell you that the day after tomorrow never comes. It's nothing but a pretty lighthouse you dream about.

I'll wake up tomorrow, and hardly get dressed.
And know now already, I don't stand a chance.
So I do what I do best, and continue to dance

Author notes

I'm not very satisfied with this as a text myself, but I do wonder how it will be received in the contest.

I like it very much; and can so relate. It also reminds me a little of the Hans Christian Anderson's story about the dancing shoes that made whoever wore them dance forever.

You made such excellent points about how much easier it is to stay in denial then to face a world of harsh realities and consequences. Sometimes the problems can be just so overwhelming, it's easier to stay in a fantasy world for always - and maybe rightfully so.

Life can be so cruel and ugly. The fantasies that we make are so much more pleasant. Good write and beautifully expressed. Bravo and congrats on the h.m.

Oh, and to answer your rhetorical question in the beginning of your write; Yes, I do know how difficult it is to be so deep in trouble, that I do not know how to repair the damage that's been done?

All I can say, is look within yourself; the answers are there and will come eventually - nomatter how awful the circumstances. You will be surprised.
