Now

In the hours alone
I wait
Smiling with thoughts
Memories of then

Smile and joy abound
No constriction
Longing for the touch
That frees me to love

At the end
Pain arrives
Bearing the smell
Of fear and pain

Bind it up and carry it away
Throw it to the wolves
Who stalk their prey
As I have become

So much hope dashed
With the wish for perfection destroyed
Another night on the ropes
Lack of patience employed

Tears drown me
In a place
I cannot escape from
Bouncing from moment to moment

Please tell me what you think

I enjoyed this poem and really liked the last stanza, Tears drown me
    In a place
    I cannot escape from
    Bouncing from moment to moment"

This may sound silly, but I hate to see a poem with no comments. I'd like you to know that I have read this one and found it to be very sad and moving. You have filled your words with emotion and conveyed that to the reader.

I hope all will be well with you.

    All the best...Sue
