Penned Upon Waking

There are dreams of former glories,

                                        recorded here

in the silent autumns we once drew
with our hands and eyes
tangled up in aching moons.

I am melting with the memories that move,
that shoot reflections through my fingers.
[tiny blue dot connected electric energies]

And my only wish is for you

                                       to breathe

in this beauty that is all around me,
dripping from the lights I fear
will one day shine right through me.

But you’re not here to bend the earth,

to pluck the rainbows

from their roots anymore.

[You’re not here anymore.]

I will never forget the pulses

                                          we etched

in the heart of one another,
and the volumes we would thread,
setting sail across infinite nights.

I promised you letters on the breeze.
I hope this grants you wings.

-I miss you.

Not quite sure how I would improve this; I probably couldn't if I tried. It's beautiful, really. So many intriguing metaphors that go against typical cliche'd thoughts. Great job expressing yourself. Thanks for entering.
