we might have closed eyes
to place ourselves in luxuries
where mirrors made smiles blush
and furnishings served forgotten kings
might have had the regal way
beck and call for all we might wish
gold coin candy on satin pillows
and apologies when nothing was wrong
choosing, we found ourselves
in the midst of trees and leafy ground
quiet sounds of night, whoosh of wings
and whispers
beneath common canopy and an uncommon moon
small space filled with wanting, just for us;
a star filled night and glistening show
I touched you as if for the first time
and you saw, in mirrors true, as passion
crossed my brow like clouds in night sky
how my eyes adored you... choosing
soft lips and warm night air
we bathed in bare moonlight and love.

This is a stunning piece. You carried me on a journey which was elegant, sweet and passionate. The ended left me feeling really quite lovely.

Hehe, so far, every poem I have read in this contest has involved two people in the room and or bed. Having said that, I find this to be a sweet and sentimental writ. Well done.
Good luck in the contest, poet.

I would love to spend a night in a hotel room like that. What am I saying here...not a night, a whole month!
The uncommon moon would probably change to common, but would still remain special. So much romance going on in such a romantic place. What else can one wish to feel good?
Lovely!

Lovely work as always...your words are so very well chosen and flow to the soft beat of a heart touched by love...excellent work, that ends with a soft *sigh* and leaves one long for such moments...you are truly talented...
Best to you!

Sigh~
You always know how to end a poem with a sigh...
"and you saw, in mirrors true, as passion
crossed my brow like clouds in night sky
how my eyes adored you... choosing
soft lips and warm night air
we bathed in bare moonlight and love."
You are truly a talent, my friend and this is just another example...

This is a wistful, genuine & lovely piece, Poet Man. I could do without the mirrors, but heyyy, that's just the librarian in me.
"just because" is the best reason of all, as you know. Thank you for entering. Good luck, Sweetie.
