A Soul Mislaid

There was a great loss, of one held so dear.
His life ran short, though his body is yet here.

Darkness surrounds him, envelopes as mist,
The spirit obscured, all in a twist.

Once where ambition resided,
now only existence abided.

Some wonder, most ignore, more still don't want to know,
that laying beneath is a man who is real, and love we should bestow.

Understand, he is not who he was, no longer is he unafraid.
Sinister shadows have engulfed, leaving him fretful and mislaid.

Retrieving such a soul must be undertaken.
No one should ever be forsaken.

Please tell me what you think
