An unreachable height,
that first step seemed too far.
Up to her chest,
and far too wide
for little reaching arms!
Her foot would raise,
and drop again,
never quite high enough -
she cried out with frustration ..
This playing thing was tough!
From up above,
a gift from God,
two big strongs hands reached down.
They clasped her own,
and gave her strength,
to climb up off the ground!
With shining eyes,
she claps her hands,
and squeals aloud with pride -
no park can get the best of her
with her sister at her side!
Author notes
Topic : "Family"
This isn't quite as "simple" as I usually write, but the topic got me thinking about my daugher Meara playing at the park with her big sister, Abigail! Abby helped her climb up the steps, (she could handle all of them by herself, except the first one, which was almost twice as high as the rest) and then would hug her close while going down the slide, and Meara was so proud of herself for the accomplishment!! I have a picture of them sitting on the slide together, if you'd like to see it, click this link :

This is so cute. I love the idea of the big sister being the one to rescue her and give her the extra boost she needed.
I hope that your girls always remember to pick each other up and never tear one another down..
This is such a sweet story and you wrote about it in such a beautiful way.
Criss -

Awwe, this reminds me of when me and my sister were little and we were each other's best friends... I always felt like we could accomplish anything if we were together. Sadly, that's not really the case anymore, but this poem brings back many very good and happy memories. Great write

Cute, with great imagery
And the kids (in the photo) look so wholesome and happy.
The best times of my life were when my kids were small. Made me wish they'd never grow up. -
Aww...
This was a very nice yet thought-provoking poem, well done. -
quite possibly the cutest poem i've read in 4.5 years. i've always wanted to tell you that 'Write the Sun' by you is one of my favorite poems i've ever read and one of the simplest and clearest expressions of absolute beauty/passion i've ever experienced, and it's 6:14 in the morning and i'm twisted crazy, so i will.

So Adorable
This is such a sweet poem which matches two adorable little girls.
To be honest when i was around the line
"From up above,
a gift from God,"
I was a little skeptical about what the poem was about.
You finished it perfectly though i had a warm rush go through my body by the end line.
Beautiful Piece and great for the contest 3/5 stars
XOXO
