Murder Of An Innocent

Somewhere it always happens,
  For you it’s just begun;
Not thinking through your actions,
  You were just having fun.

You didn't want a child,
  That was not your way;
This wasn’t how you planned your life,
  So now I have to pay.

The vacuum may tear me up,
  Scissors are shoved into my brain;
A salt solution I may be given,
  My last few minutes in burning pain.

Now I do not understand,
  Can you please tell me why?
What wrong have I committed,
  That now I have to die?

I've done nothing to deserve this,
  Though in heaven I will be:
But have to ask you mommy,
  Why didn’t you love me?

Author notes

This poem was another case of me projecting myself as another being. in this a an aborted unborn child. I feel that abortion is probably the worst crime that our society as a whole has committed. The murder in the name of convienence is so far wrong. Its wrong that the innocent are punished for the actions of their parents. As you can tell it is a subject that really means a lot to me. I hope you enjoyed the poem. Written January 23rd, 2008.

    Amazing! I wouldn't say it was enjoyable because abortion is sooo dispicable, but you wrote this well and easily provoked emotions out of the reader. Thanks for standing up for Pro-life and sharing this poem.

  • *blinks back tears* my birth mother wishes she had aborted me ... this was good... reminds me why i dont believe in abortion...

    The gruesome details really add to the strength of this poem. Thank you for your entry,

    • When I wrote this poem I wanted to cover all of the bases. Inclusing the gross reality of the different types of abortion procedures.
  • I myself am pro-life in nearly all cases. However, in the cases of rape and medical necessity, I could understand it. It doesn't mean I would go through with an abortion. I would have to weigh heavily on all of the options. I do believe most women aren't aware of all of the options avaible to them. How do you fell about the cases of rape or medical necessity? As for the write itself, WOW! You had me in tears by the end of the poem. Thanks so much for posting in this sensitive and controversial subject. Best of luck to you in the contest.

    • Even in cases of rape I dont see it as excusable. To kill a baby because of who the father is. If it would be so hard then put it up for adoption but dont just murder it.

    This is a great poem. I really love it. I feel abortion is wrong and is a murder. If you're not prepared or ready to have a child use contraception or just don't do it. Abortions are horrible things especially when there are couples across the world who can't have children and yet people are having them aborted everyday. It's sick and wrong.

    • If your not prepaired to have a child dont have sex. No form of contraception is fullproof. My ex got pregnant with me wearing a condom. My friend got pregnant on birthcontrol and he was wearing a condom. So if your not in a situation that your ready to have a child you should be having sex.

        Did your ex or your friend have an abortion?
        If it's not so rude as to ask, has this affected your relationship with them?

        • No neither of them did. my ex died in a car accident while she was pregnant and my friend had her son who has become like a son to me. Hes given me more hope of being a father one day.
  • GREAT JOB!!!!

    this poem is really good....i hope that one day someone will make it illegal to abort pregnancies....i completely agree that no unborn child deserves to die just because of the parents dumb decisions....i would never do that to my child....if my mother didnt believe in this so strongly, i would have lost my little brother to an abortion because my step father did not want a child....and i am glad that my mother has believed so strongly in this practice....thank you for this poem....i hope that people will read this and know that it is wrong....keep up the good work....
    • Thanks. Unfortunatly I lost an older sister to abortion. My mo still carries the guilt with her and has been a huge anti abortion advocate since then.
  • this is great. I remember having an argument on allpoetry with some crazy woman over a woman's right to choose. It is incredible how people justify it. In my oppinion, abortion is premeditated murder. Your poem is not generic in any way, it has the perfect amounts of uniqe vocabulary and heartwrenching content. God Bless you.

    • Thanks. I just know I could ahve been more original with the poem. I have ideas for more but i havnt written them yet.
  • My heart breaks

    In all my life I will never understand why any woman with a right mind in knowing what she is doing would take a childs life . They need to be shown the films of such an act before they decide on taking a life in such a way . Once they make that decision how can they live knowing they have destroyed an angel from which God willed .

    • I agreed I know women though that the guilt hit them afterwards for what they did. I feel bad about it but I almost enjoy that women for bad for having the abortion. Maybe it just gives me hope that we con change peoples minds about it.
  • WOW

    I cried as I read it and I still am. I agree that abortion is murder. Keep standing up for what is right- I will too.
    Also, thank you for your service in the military. You are a hero, and so are the others.
    Please read my profile- there is a read about abortion that you may like to read.

    Oh! this made me cry!! I am sad to say that my mother when she was a teen was raped and got pregnant, she did not know what to do and when she told her friends they said to get an abortion.. She always told me that she felt wrong but that she thought her friends cared about her enough to know what was a good idea.. That is something that she carries with her, and she says that if she had been stronger if she had not been such a weak person she would have told them to shove it! But now she does everything that she can to protest against it and our whole family does as well..She very deeply regrets that part of her life and she always wonders what the child would have been like.. I think that in a way she is still punishing herself.. Whenever anyone talks about it, she always tell them her story and then says that it's not worth it, loving a child is better then remembering the fact that you killed it.. I thank you for writing this poem!!

    • I've heard that story alot with this poem. Women dont realize and they never tell women about the lifetime of guilt that they feel when they go in to get abortions. I hate it.

    An excellent poem from a different perspective. The poem is interesting and though provoking, but I will not comment on that.
    The rhythm and rhyme are good and flow nicely.

    All the best...Sue

    • Actually people tend to find this poem kinda generic as the anti-abortion poems usually come from the perspective of the baby. I've been thinking about doing one from the perspective of the father who had no say and lest his child to an abortion.
  • Your poems get better and better the more of them I read. I agree with your author notes, and with everything in your poem. When so many out there can't have children naturally and go to great lengths to have a baby, then for others it happens so easily and they don't even appreciate that gift they are given - humans are selfish sometimes.

    • Hes one thing that alot of people dont realize. There have been more babies killed by abortion then there were jews killed in the camps during the holocaust and i believe the number of abortions in America since abortion was legalized is 14 million. Which is the greater tragedy?
