this is just really wonderful ... it is a potent little poem with huge and glorious images ... it is such a subtle yet poignant metaphore, yet serves itself well as a simple observation... your images of the firefly and cave and the waterfall ... of wine!!! yet!!!!! ... such a bravado of an image ...

    like, wow

Like Monte, I'm a red bloodied lass and prefer a good chilean caberner sauvignon... or a rich shiraz. but i can see the route of zinfandel to the heart of the matter so to speak

    lubblyjubbly stuff

I think you have taken a very restricted set of paramaters, and worked a very effective sensual piece! I also love this title. It is a lovely introduction to the piece, but after the piece is read, the
    sensual impact is exponential. Geo

whatever research i should have done on this, i spent marveling at the word chalice and its enticing significance. i remember when i thought white zin was the best wine ever. now i wouldn't even wash my feet with it - the rest is solid and devine.

Like most men, I like to have the hollows and caves of love of my favorite women poets to be filled too. And I agree, Zinfandel can help promote such literary endeavors -- though I pretty much stick to reds. However, if I think it helps my chances evoking a "firefly's glow," I am not remiss to changing to white zinfandel. I mean, with caverns like those, one can't be too choosy about what wines get you the chance to spelunk, right?

Anyway, lovely and sensual expressions here, Tara.

You know that fireflies are born to find their mate, yes?

They fly around with their little lights..bright and attractive until they find their mate. Or if they don't, they die when their light goes out...

I love the use of firefly here for that reason.

We are always searching aren't we?

    Beautiful, Tara

Hope you got some rest last night!

A white zinfandel is also sort of a 'rose' colored wine.
thanks, that saved me going seasrching to see what that meant i will try it one time, though when i think of rose wine and think eek it is like drinking flowers lol a good poem.

This is so perfect!! Beautiful I don't think "white zinfandel" is necessary here... but as its one of the prompt words, yeah... it's ok, lol. If I were you, I'd change it to something else, after the contest is over, and this poem wins gold

This is PERFECT. I want to write like you when I'm 33
