Have You Ever Seen Such A Flower?

Have you ever seen such a flower,
A small and tender flower,
Solitarily clinging to the end of its own branch
Flailing in the wind?
You can’t help but to feel sorry for it
As it tries to hold onto its shape;
Be the flower it had been once before.
The velvet edges stiffened,
Crispy to the touch,
Darkened, with a hint of decay.
And, showing in its desperation,
Its weary attempts to hold on in the rocking wind.
It doesn’t want to let go,
Yet can barely hold on much longer.

Have you? Have you ever seen such a flower
Loose its composure when the sun doesn’t shine?
Closing desperately, to shelter its own petals,
Waiting for a glimpse of light [that never comes].

Have you ever seen such a flower
Thrown and tossed out nakedly without any caution?
Like Mother Nature went out of her way
To cast it out,
Stick it out,
And throw it out.
“You’re on your own, dear flower,” she seems to say to it.

Have you? Have you ever seen such a flower
Gawked at by other flowers?
Teasing it from their distance,
Their sheltered shade,
And thick bush.

Have you ever seen such a flower
On the verge of tears?
Have you?
Have you ever seen such a flower
Try to be beautiful?
Though its plight steals its soft appearance.
Have you ever seen such a flower
That you didn’t want to smell?
Or put in your hair?

Have you? Have you seen such a flower
That makes you want to cry and not smile?
That breaks your heart every time you look at it?
Suffocated by its own struggle...its only lot in life.

I have.
Every time I look out the atrium window,
I watch that flower dance a sick dance,
When the wind throws it around tortuously...
And I think of you.

What I like about this is the repeat lines They are very beautiful and makes one think more and more as you repeat them. Well done young lady!

this makes my heart cry out dear one. It is so filled with dispair. The repetition really helps. I almost hear your voice raise as you ask, "Have you?" great job letting the reader into your heart. I saw a raven give up trying to take off in flight against our wind and just walk lol.

    Oh this is so sad

This is so very sad and yet I understand it completly I truly do .For I felt this same way about my Dad when my parents devorced I to this day have never understood why. And without an answer the children holds such a scar for so often the children feel it might have been their fault for saome reason . I cried to see my Dad living all alone and the way people just surmised it was his fault yet no one truly ever knew why they devorced

    very good

captures the essence of the fraigility of a flower
    albeit nature
not to be abused, shunned, rejected
    but
to gaze upon its beauty and be inspired
