Landing
not where maps be told
Far discerned,
the enemy lies
Just beyond
the yonder ridge
Hiding in mist,
just down the line
Lost
to all who went away
Guns carry
not more than shell
Lives gone up
to heaven’s door
Ringing softly
on the bell
Though
we may have missed our mark,
Triumphant we
wish to become
Now discerned,
pray the enemy lies
Defeated
when this day is done

Nice poem. It remind me of the sentiments expressed in some of the World War I poetry such as the one you mentioned in your authors notes. Congratulations on a job well done. Best of luck in the contest.
