Such a gentle lass she was, with flaxen locks
that smelled of lavender soap , sweet and fresh.
She wore a silver pennant around her neck
The trinket, adorned with delicate grape vines
was a gift from her husband, a gnarly old gentlemen.
He had given it to her this night in their chamber,
"I swear to keep you safe my dear" , these words he uttered,
a film of tears growing in his eyes.
"Such mettle you show me daily my love", was her response
as she kissed him gently and blew out the candle wick.
