My pre-teen wants all control
even though there is "No!"
it seems as though she hates me,
her love just does not show.
She is a stubborn child
old enough to have a fight,
the way she talks to Mother
she doesn't have the right.
Disrespect blows about
as she swears up a storm,
blurting out words of thunder
she does not seem very warm.
Sadness fills her being
as she needs help to shine,
inside she looks for happiness
her frowns are an obvious sign.
I feel bad when I see her,
my heart begins to drop,
a heart full of sorrow,
I wish the pain would stop.
I want her to be happy
despite the falling rain,
teardrops on her pillow
from all her inner pain.

The wonder years
you wonder when they started, you wonder when they'll end.
the connection with your child, who no longer seems a friend.
hoping it'll be over, you wish it to be so.
then they throw another curve ball, just to let you know.
before you had your children, you should have thought of this.
so they will make you squirm, its thier duty they can't miss.
you wonder if a time will come, the burden in your care.
will learn to be responsible, rebuild bridges burnt by dare....

I feel your pain
It can be a painful transition from child to young woman. Most come through it becoming wonderful mothers and friends who will be there for you one day.

This reminds me of when I was 11-12 I was so rebellious..i enjoyed this write because it is something that i can relate to. i feel that a lot of pre teens can relate to this poem.I especially like these lines
Sadness fills her being
as she needs help to shine,
inside she looks for happiness
her frowns are an obvious sign.
