Darling

I'd take up this cross for you,
I'd make it my burden to bare,
the complexity of your heart,
or the tiredness and despair,

I ache for you unendingly,
to put your hardships in my hand,
I wish to hear your stories love,
I wish to know what I can,

pull you close and whisper,
sweet nothing in your ears,
make the demons die away,
in the torrents of my tears,

do not wither my lovely rose,
stand proud against the Terris,
build thorns against the hurts,
do not fall from me; do not perish,

put your hand in mine darling,
keep me close beside you dear,
the inner sanctum of my heart,
Is a place you have no need to fear,

it will shut you up from the world,
cradle you in sands of time,
do not weep anymore darling,
simply stay here and be mine,

sickness comes against us,
fear and wrath try to bind,
let the dogs of war defend us,
let our enemies be kind,

for when they fall in roses,
and tumble through the briars,
we'll lie down upon the grove,
and we'll listen to the squires,

as they hum our song of love,
our epic utopian dream of unity,
let them try and hide the fact,
that our love is purity.

Author notes

Well I tried to relate to what you said about her in the contest. I myself have been in a similar situation. I don't wish to offend with anything too personal. I hope you do enjoy it and tell me if anything doesn't fit at all. I do hope this helps.

So many little metaphors in this that tell me of the caring, and ever so nice personality shining through. that even during the 'sickness', that tells me as well that you are a strong person.

I don't know for whom this was penned but it is absolutely wonderful. So full of emotions and imagery and it reminded me of poems from another era. I loved it completely!
