Mirror

I look into the mirror everyday,
Looking at myself,
I wonder,
Why I couldn't be someone else.

People look at me with a different views,
Treat me differently too.
Just because I'm gay,
Doesn't mean that I automatically like you!

Just listen,
Listen to what I have to say,
Just judge me of my character,
Not because I'm gay.

I'm still the same person inside and out,
Treat me like a human being,
And hold on to your doubt.

I face this mirror everyday,
It reflects my image and the words I say.
You may want my people to leave,
But we gays and lesbians are here to stay!

I'm a lesbian. iSupport This is for a contest, but it really got me thinking.
People need to stop hating on Homosexuals, because there are a lot in this world. People need to stop acting like Hitler!! Please comment.

    xD I needed to read a poem with some gay pride, I myself am bi-sexual. It was well written too, and you are right. People should not view us on exactly our sexual orientation but on who we are as a person.

    I remember when I was your age and came out how hard it was, and that's exactly how I felt. High school is a hard time to come into yourself and accept who you are, and I'm glad you've come so far. Thanks for entering this into my contest!

      Thank you for commenting. It's been pretty hard for others to accept me. But I accept myself. Thanks again for posting a contest like this. I think that this should be a topic that others get more into writing about.

        You're welcome. The thing that's helped me is just realizing that you don't need the people that won't accept you in your life. Not worth it :-)
